"The Danube pearl" presented in Sofia


Tourist and recreational complex "The Danube pearl" in Mihajlovac was presented at the presentation of potential investments in tourism, in the border region of Sebria and Bulgaria, which was held in Sofia.This presentation was entitled "Top 10 investments in tourism in the border region of Vidin - Zajecar - Bor."

The presentation has been prepared within the project "Initiative for the development and attracting investment in tourism" - TIDA -financed by the European Union through the IPA CBC Programme Bulgaria - Serbia .

At the presentation in Sofia, municipalities in border Region Vidin Zajecar - Bor signed a protocol of cooperation in attracting investment in tourism in the border region. Dragoljub Djordjević, Deputy Mayor of Negotin signe the protocol for the Municipality of Negotin. All parties in the Protocol  agreed to establish an efficient and sustainable cross-border partnership to promote investments in tourism and to improve connections between local - regional business community, public sector and entrepreneurs.

 

Conceptual design of the tourist and recreational complex "Danube Pearl", was  presented by Marijana Djordjevic , senior associate at the Office for Local Economic and Rural Development of Negotin Municipality, as a member of the delegation  led  by Dragoljub Djordjevic. "Danube Pearl" is a complex on the banks of the Danube with a number of facilities for tourists, besides accommodation, which could provide opportunities for sport and recreation on the water. Turists can also visit numerous touristic locations in Negotin, natural monuments, many cultural and historical contents and  large number of events.

Next to "Danube Pearl"  as one of the top 10 investments in tourism in the border region of Vidin - Zajecar - Bor" , some other projects were presented.The project named " Adrenalin Park - Pavilion" - Zajecar, " Podina and Vrelo “ – „ Hunting Lodge "from Soko Banja , "Kozarnica point" and "Rgoška banjica" Knjaževac. Bulgarian partners presented their project "Danube Park Vidin - Calafat" - Vidin, "Tourist complex wine tourism " - Novo Selo , "Ski Resort Midzor" - Čuprene i "Ekološko selo - Madona" village  Ciflik near Belogradchik .

The "Initiative for Development and attracting investment in tourism", is implemented by RARIS - Regional Development Agency Eastern Serbia, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Vidin in Bulgaria. The project is financed by EU funds under the IPA Cross-border Programme Bulgaria - Serbia.

The overall objective of the project is to promote sustainable development and increase the competitiveness through the valorization of tourism potentials on both sides of the border.

The project contributes to sustainable socio – economic development of the border area, a goal that is in the program strategy, the regional and local policy documents. Tourism was chosen because of the attractiveness of the border region, the Danube, mountains, spas, rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.

The specific objective of the project is to strengthen local capacity to attract investment in tourism in Vidin, Bor and Zajecar border area. During the preparation of the project, a joint project team has reached an agreement with local and regional stakeholders to help 10 potential tourism investment projects related to the Danube tourism , winter tourism, rural tourism and health/spa tourism, to reach out to the potential investors in the country and abroad.
